For a beach still bordered by nature, I would choose Marina di Alberese, in the the Maremma regional park. There you will find a long sandy beach, dunes and trunks polished by the sea, rather than a row of beach resorts. From the center of Grosseto, allow about 20 km and about thirty minutes by car. It is the best choice if you are looking for a wild setting; however, services are limited and some, such as the toilets and the food point, only operate in season.
The parking near the beach is paid in seasonal periods and of limited capacity : spaces may be lacking at peak hours, especially in summer. A seasonal shuttle and a cycle path also allow access; check the schedules before leaving. If you prefer to have more bars, restaurants and equipped beaches within reach, choose instead Marina di Grosseto. For a compromise between free areas and services, look at Principina a Mare. In July and August, these beaches are busier; in June or September, you will generally have more tranquility.
