What are the beaches near Capalbio?

Near Capalbio, you will mainly find La Torba, Macchiatonda and Chiarone, also called Ultima Spiaggia. From the hilltop village, allow about 10 to 15 km, i.e. 15 to 20 minutes by car depending on the beach and traffic. The coast is long and sandy, but the access points are scattered: the car is genuinely practical.

La Torba is the northernmost; its sand can lean toward dark grey, which sets it apart from the more classic beaches. Macchiatonda borders a natural area near the Burano lake oasis: choose your access point carefully, as the whole area is not developed like a beach with services. Further south, at Chiarone, you have free stretches and establishments like Ultima Spiaggia. In summer, the equipped beaches offer parasols and sun loungers for rent; prices vary depending on the date and the establishment, while the free areas cost nothing. The services are mainly open during the bathing season, and parking can fill up at peak times. To locate the coastline and the village, also check my guide to Capalbio.

The contrast between the hilltop alleys and the sea horizon is Capalbio's little magic trick. Save some energy for the way back: after the sun, even a wild boar finds the path to the village longer!
