How far is Capalbio from the sea?

From the historic center of Capalbio, allow about 10 km to the coast, generally 15 to 20 minutes by car, depending on the beach and traffic. The village is perched inland: even though the municipality does have a coastline, you can't reach the sea on foot from the town in good conditions. To locate the beaches and access points, here is our page on Capalbio.

The municipal coastline stretches over approximately 12 km, with several areas, including La Torba, Macchiatonda and Chiarone. The exact distance therefore varies depending on where you want to swim; Chiarone, to the south, is farther than the access points on the La Torba side. In practice, plan on using the car: sea access points are few and the parking lots have limited capacity, something to keep in mind in the middle of summer. Capalbio works well if you want to combine the village and the beach, but it's not a destination where the historic center is right at the water's edge.

Capalbio is best enjoyed in two stages: the beach, then the village's narrow streets, rather than a whole day in beach-towel mode. Save some energy to stroll around after your swim!
