À Manciano, start with the historic center: you can see the Cassero, an old fortress linked to the Aldobrandeschi and now the town hall, then stroll through the alleys where portions of the ramparts remain and the tower near Porta Fiorella. The Cassero tower offers a panorama over the Maremma, but access may depend on opening hours: check before counting on it. Allow about 1 h 30 to 2 h for the walk, the churches and the museum.
On Piazza Garibaldi, look at the fountain built in 1913 to celebrate the arrival of running water. The church of San Leonardo in particular houses a painting by Paride Pascucci and ancient religious elements; a little outside the ramparts, the Santissima Annunziata also houses a work by this painter. If you are interested in archaeology, the Museum of Prehistory and Protohistory of the Fiora Valleyin the center, presents the discoveries of the region; check its opening days before going.
The village is small: Manciano is mainly visited for its local history and its views, rather than for a long series of spectacular monuments. If you have a car, Montemerano, another village in the municipal territory, complements the visit well with its medieval core.
