The weekly markets are held in several towns in the Maremma, mostly in the morning: you will find them in particular in Follonica on Friday, or at the Parco Centrale, at Pitigliano on Wednesdays and at Scarlino Scalo on Tuesday. À Scansano, the market takes place on Friday, at piazzale delle Cascine. Days and locations vary from one municipality to another: it is not a single market that travels around the region.
To buy directly from producers, also check the short-supply-chain markets of Grosseto : le jeudi, viale Repubblica Dominicana and piazza Donatello host stalls, and on Saturday the one on viale Repubblica Dominicana; the advertised hours are from 7 am to 1:30 pm. In Follonica, the Campagna Amica market at Parco Centrale is listed on Friday, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, featuring in particular fruits, vegetables, cheeses, cold cuts, oil and wine. General markets also offer non-food items: so don't always expect to find a wide selection of farm products. Check the local calendar before setting off, as public holidays or municipal decisions may cause a relocation or cancellation.
