What weekly markets are there in Maremma?

Yes: you will find morning markets in several towns in Maremma, notably in Follonica on Saturdays, at Manciano on Saturday, at Pitigliano on Wednesdays and at Orbetello on weekdays. Days and locations vary by municipality; markets often offer a mix of food products, clothing and household goods, not only local specialties.

To buy directly from producers, Grosseto has short-supply-chain markets on Thursday and Saturday, from 7 am to 1:30 pm, at Viale Repubblica Dominicana, and on Thursday also at Piazza Donatello. These events are announced until December 31, 2026, excluding public holidays. It is the most targeted choice if you are looking for agricultural products rather than a general market.

In practice, aim for the morning and check the calendar with the municipality before making a detour: markets may be moved on public holidays, and some coastal events change with the season. In summer, there are also temporary markets in seaside resorts; they do not necessarily replace the usual weekly market. For a gourmet stop, look at the stalls of fruits and vegetables, cheeses and cold cuts, but the choice will depend on the day and the vendors present.

Don't limit yourself to the stalls that look tempting in photos: general markets also tell the story of everyday life in the towns, and it is often there that Maremma reveals itself far from the postcards.
