Where is the municipality of Cinigiano located?

Cinigiano is located in southern Tuscany, in the province of Grosseto, inland in the Maremma. The village is about 35 km from Grosseto, generally 40 to 50 minutes by car, depending on the route. So it is not a coastal municipality: it lies in a landscape of hills, between the Ombrone valley and the slopes of the Mount Amiata, avec le Val d'Orcia further to the north-east.

The name refers both to the main village and to a fairly extensive municipality, made up of several hamlets, including Monticello Amiata, Sasso d'Ombrone and Porrona. If you are planning a visit, check the exact address carefully: the villages and hamlets are scattered, and a car is handy for getting around between them. Cinigiano is also known in the region for its grape harvest festival, the Festa dell'Uva, held in the village in autumn.

If you want to discover a Maremma less focused on the beach, don't make Cinigiano a mere photo stop: keep some time to explore at your own pace.
