À Cinigiano, start with the village center: you can see the church San Michele Arcangelo, rebuilt at the end of the 16the century, then stroll around the clock tower and through the quiet streets. To be honest, the village is quickly visited; the interest also lies in taking the road between the hills and the vineyards of the Montecucco, where you can plan a tasting by booking directly with an estate.
À environ 3 km, make a detour to Porrona : its ramparts surround a small medieval village, with the Pieve di San Donato and a square dominated by historic palaces. The castle is now a private establishment, so don't necessarily expect to be able to visit it. It's better to have a car to connect the villages and the estates; the visits to Cinigiano and Porrona can be done in half a day, without rushing. If you are in the area during the grape harvest, find out about the Festa dell'Uva de Cinigiano : it's a local festival, but it doesn't take place all year round.
