How much does a bottle of Morellino cost?

For a bottle of 75 cl Morellino di Scansano, allow about 8 to 17 € in shops or from a producer; a Riserva often costs more, around 12 to 25 €, and some cuvées exceed 40 €. Prices vary depending on the estate and the cuvée: entry-level bottles can be found for less than 8 €, while more sought-after references cost noticeably more.

On site, in Maremma, check whether the displayed price is for a bottle to take away or a bottle served at the restaurant: at the table, it will generally be more expensive. If you simply want to taste one without aiming for a particular cuvée, plan on about ten euros in a shop; for a Riserva, plan on fifteen euros or more instead. These are orders of magnitude, not a fixed price: the estate and the vintage can change the bill.

Don't let yourself be hypnotized by the word «Riserva»: for a no-fuss meal, a classic cuvée can be the most fitting choice.
