Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine for a moment the softness of the Tuscan hills, a generous sun caressing centuries-old vines. This Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG from La Braccesca, in its 2021 vintage, is an invitation to that sensory journey, an authentic expression of an exceptional terroir.
It is in the heart of Tuscany, in the prestigious Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG appellation, that La Braccesca cultivates its vines. The estate, with its Podere Maggiarino, is a historic player in this region, contributing to the renown of these elegant wines. This cru is made from 100% Sangiovese, the king grape variety of Tuscany, here called Prugnolo Gentile.
The work in the cellar is meticulous: after a maceration of about 20 days, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in tonneaux. The wine is then aged for about 12 months in these same tonneaux, before bottle refinement which gives it its complexity. To the eye, you will discover a deep and luminous red colour. On the nose, this Nobile offers mature and discreet notes, without exuberance, but with beautiful complexity: crunchy red fruits, floral touches of violet, and sweet spices that subtly blend with cocoa and vanilla. On the palate, the whole is compact and balanced, with a tannic structure that is present but harmoniously integrated, and a persistence that will invite you to meditative tastings.
This Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a choice ally for moments of sharing. I recommend it with aged cheeses, whose richness will answer its structure. It will also pair wonderfully with grilled or sauce-based red meats, and even with game, where its complex aromas will enhance the flavours. Also consider pairing it with mushroom-based dishes, for an autumnal tasting experience. Do not hesitate to open it a few hours before serving so that it reveals the full extent of its bouquet, or to taste it gradually to appreciate its evolution.
