Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, where the history of wine is being rewritten. This Tignanello 2018 is much more than a wine; it is a bold statement, a philosophy that shook up the codes of Chianti Classico. It embodies the pioneering spirit of a legendary estate.
Nestled in the prestigious Chianti Classico appellation, the Antinori estate gave birth to this iconic wine. Tignanello is the fruit of a rigorous selection of Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is here that a silent revolution took place: it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first blend of non-traditional grape varieties in the region, and one of the first Chianti Classico reds to do without white grape varieties.
In your glass, you will discover an intense, deep ruby-red color. On the nose, the bouquet is intense, elegant and seductive. I perceive aromas of ripe red fruits, blackberries, mingled with spicy notes, wildflowers, leather, white chocolate and even a touch of tobacco. On the palate, this wine reveals itself as full-bodied and harmonious. The suppleness of its tannins accompanies the tasting through to a long, enveloping and truly delightful finish. Fermentation takes place in steel vats, followed by a long maceration, and the wine is then aged for 12 to 14 months in barriques.
To fully appreciate the richness of this Tignanello, I recommend letting it breathe for one to two hours before serving. This is a wine that calls for dishes of character. It will pair wonderfully with flavorful red meats, game or aged cheeses. This 2018 vintage promises a high-quality tasting experience, an invitation to a sensory journey in the heart of authentic Tuscany, a privileged moment you are sure to enjoy.
