Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you to discover a gem of the Maremma, that corner of Tuscany where tradition meets a new elegance. This Morellino di Scansano Riserva is the very expression of a unique terroir, shaped by passion and expertise. It embodies a story, that of a Sangiovese revealing all its depth.
Cantina Terenzi, nestled in Scansano, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, enjoys a privileged environment. It is there that the Morellino di Scansano takes root, a wine that draws its distinctive character from this particular terroir. This estate is committed to showcasing the region's emblematic grape variety, Sangiovese, offering it the ideal conditions to flourish.
This wine, made from a rigorous selection of the best Sangiovese grapes, is enriched by a small proportion of other local varieties, bringing complexity and structure. Its vinification begins with fermentation in steel tanks, followed by extended maceration. It is then aged for a minimum of 24 months, partly in French oak barriques. This aging period softens the intensity of the fruit and integrates sophisticated notes of spices, vanilla and chocolate, which blend harmoniously with the natural elegance of Sangiovese. To the eye, it displays a deep ruby red color, with garnet highlights that intensify over time. On the nose, the bouquet is rich, revealing vibrant aromas of ripe fruits such as cherry and plum, complemented by intriguing notes of tobacco, aromatic herbs and damp earth. On the palate, you will discover a robust yet balanced structure, with well-integrated tannins that promise great aging potential. The freshness is counterbalanced by an inviting softness, leading to a long, persistent finish, where the spicy and fruity notes perceived on the nose return.
This Morellino di Scansano Riserva is the perfect companion for dishes with intense flavors. I recommend it with roasted red meats, game or aged cheeses. It will lend itself wonderfully to special evenings, bringing a touch of elegance and tradition to your meals. Let yourself be carried away by this authentic expression of the Maremma, a wine that tells a story with every sip.
