Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, where time seems suspended. Today I'm taking you to discover a wine that embodies this authenticity, a Sangiovese that speaks of its terroir with disarming frankness. It's a gem I unearthed, a true favorite for lovers of pure flavors.
We are in the Valdarno di Sopra region, a DOC appellation worth discovering, nestled in a Tuscan green setting. The Tenuta Setteponti estate passionately cultivates the region's flagship grape, Sangiovese. It is here, on these lands steeped in history, that this Vigna dell'Impero 2019 is born, the fruit of careful vinification, with fermentation in steel tanks and skin maceration that give it all its personality. It then benefited from twelve months of aging that refined its contours.
From the very first glance, its color will seduce you with its intensity. On the nose, you will immediately perceive that crunchy red fruit, almost lively, with notes of cherry and subtle floral touches that dance with a hint of delicate spice, never overpowering. On the palate, this Sangiovese reveals all its vitality. It is medium-bodied, carried by a vibrant freshness and well-defined tannins that give it an elegant structure without ever weighing it down. Its sapidity invites tasting, making the wine fluid and irresistible. It all concludes with a clean, coherent finish, where the fruity notes linger pleasantly.
This Vigna dell'Impero is an ideal companion for a rustic yet refined table. I recommend it with flavorful sauces, a good meat ragù, grilled red meats or roasts. Aged cheeses will also find in it a choice ally, capable of enhancing their aromas. Served slightly chilled, it will bring a touch of pleasure even on warmer days. It is a wine suited both to informal moments of conviviality and to traditional dishes of Tuscan cuisine. You will appreciate it for its unadorned authenticity, a perfect balance between pleasure and character.
