Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you on a sensory journey to the heart of Tuscany, where the sea breeze meets the land. This wine, the Sassosolo 2018, is a pure expression of Bolgheri, a red gem that whispers to you the story of its terroir.
We are in Bolgheri, an appellation that has forged a worldwide reputation. The Az. Agr. i Luoghi estate, with its Sassosolo, embodies this excellence. This wine is made from a carefully selected Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape variety that finds here a privileged ground for expression. The vinification is a precise art: fermentation in steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for at least 24 days, extracts all the aromatic and structural richness of the grapes. It is the prelude to a patient maturation.
After this first stage, the Sassosolo refines for 18 months in French oak barriques. This period gives it its complexity and depth. In your glass, you will discover an intense, deep ruby red color, a sign of its concentration. On the nose, a rich and varied bouquet offers itself to you: notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and plum, mingle with scents of sweet spices, tobacco, and a delicate balsamic touch. On the palate, this Bolgheri IGT reveals great structure and remarkable harmony. Its tannins are velvety and perfectly integrated, bringing an elegance and persistence that prolong the pleasure. The body is full and enveloping, supported by a pleasant acidity that preserves its freshness and promises a beautiful evolution over time.
This Sassosolo is a wine of character that calls for food and wine pairings worthy of it. I warmly recommend it with grilled red meats, a fine cut of game, or aged cheeses. Its complexity and robustness make it the perfect partner for these dishes. Imagine it on your table, during a dinner with friends, or to celebrate a special occasion. It will delight the most demanding palates and transform a simple meal into a true moment of sharing and discovery.
