Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, where the sun caresses the vines and every sip tells a story. Today, I'm taking you to discover a gem of Bolgheri, a wine that embodies the elegance and power of its terroir.
This wine is the Villa Donoratico, from the 2021 vintage of Tenuta Argentiera. This estate is nestled in the southernmost part of Bolgheri, an appellation that benefits from a unique microclimate, influenced by the proximity of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The rich and varied soils and the generous sunshine give the grapes exceptional maturity. The Villa Donoratico is a thoughtful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and a touch of Petit Verdot (5%), grape varieties that thrive wonderfully in this region.
As soon as you pour it, its deep ruby red color captivates the eye. On the nose, it's a symphony of ripe red fruits that greets you, with notes of blackberry and cherry, enhanced by spicy and balsamic touches. On the palate, this Bolgheri DOC reveals itself powerful and balanced. The tannins are silky, and the freshness typical of the region's wines brings a beautiful liveliness. It was aged between 12 and 18 months, after fermentation in steel tanks, followed by maturation in wood, which gives it remarkable aromatic complexity and length on the palate.
This Villa Donoratico is an invitation to conviviality. I particularly recommend it with robust dishes: think grilled red meats, a stewed game dish or aged cheeses. It will elevate a roast lamb or a fine bistecca fiorentina. Don't hesitate to decant it a few minutes before serving, at a temperature of 18-20°C, so that it reveals all its richness. It's a wine that will accompany your moments of sharing, whether festive or more intimate, and transport you directly to the heart of the Tuscan landscapes.
