Comment on noteOur opinion
If you're looking for a table in Orvieto that puts meat at the center of the plate, Testardo is an address to consider. The local reputation and customer feedback highlight consistent quality when it comes to "carne", which is no small feat in a region where tradition reigns supreme.
Here, the establishment clearly positions itself as a "Steakhouse" and "Barbecue" in addition to classic Italian cuisine. Don't expect a menu that sings the praises of seasonal vegetables or fresh-made pasta with twenty different sauces. No, at Testardo, you come for the meat. The starters, like the "tagliere di salumi delle migliori macellerie di Orvieto" or the "prosciutto al coltello del giorno", already set the tone: selected cold cuts, hand-carved ham. It's simple, direct, and it sets the stage for the meaty feast to come. There's also talk of "tagliere di salumi di maiale iberico", which shows an openness beyond the strict borders of Umbria when it comes to product quality.
As for the atmosphere, we must be honest: the sources don't say much that's specific. No description of a panoramic terrace, or of rustic or modern décor that stands out. What we do know is that the establishment is located on Corso Cavour, right in the center of Orvieto. So expect a city restaurant atmosphere, without particular frills, where the essential is on the plate—or rather, in the meat. If you're looking for a romantic setting with a view over the valley, this is probably not the place. If you want a good cut of meat, that's another story.
You choose Testardo for its promise of good meat, confirmed by the feedback. It's an unpretentious address, where you come for the essentials. At an average price of 22 euros per person, it's a solid option for a meal centered on the quality of "carne" in Orvieto, without breaking the bank. On the other hand, don't be surprised if the service can sometimes be uneven, that's a point raised by some. But if your goal is a good cut of meat, you know where to go.
