Comment on noteOur opinion
In Grilli, Tenuta Dodici is first and foremost a wine estate. If you're looking for a table that highlights its own wines, you're in the right place. The cuisine is there to accompany their cuvées, a specific fact that sets it apart from many addresses in the region.
The house offers Italian cuisine built around local products. You will find, for example, the Pappa al pomodoro, but not just any: they serve it with smoked duck, Tuscan pecorino and an aromatic oil. It's a way of revisiting a classic without altering it. The Veal Tartare is also on the menu, prepared with capers, pickled cucumber, red onion, Dijon mustard and black bread, which shows a certain refinement in the flavours. And to start, you can be tempted by a selection of seasonal bruschettas.
The setting, located at Loc. Poggio Gobbo, 15/A, frazione Grilli, Gavorrano, is that of an estate in the heart of the Maremma countryside. The sources do not detail the interior ambiance or a specific terrace, but the location suggests a peaceful environment, typical of a wine estate. The experience is therefore intimately linked to the discovery of the estate and its wines, such as the Dodici Bianco or the Urga, a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.
If you want to taste dishes that pair with the wines produced on site, Tenuta Dodici is a relevant option. It's an address where the cuisine serves the wine, and not the other way around. It's an honest approach that showcases the terroir and the work of the wine estate above all.
