Comment on noteOur opinion
From Porto Santo Stefano, the Baia 40 takes you to explore the Argentario coastline and its neighbouring waters, with enough space to share the day with eight passengers. I recommend it if you want to enjoy the sea without taking the helm yourself: the rental is offered only with a skipper. Before booking, also plan for the fees that are not included in the rate.
This 1994 Baia 40 measures 12.5 metres and has two engines with a total power of 880 horsepower. It accommodates eight passengers plus the skipper, while its cabin offers two berths. The stated top speed reaches 32 knots, with a cruising speed of 25 knots. On board, the two sun decks — at the bow and at the stern — let you settle in outdoors; the cockpit includes a sofa and a dining table. The teak deck, the outdoor table, the sun awning and the swim platform complete the relaxation areas. For a dip in the water, you will find a ladder, masks and snorkels. The boat also has a bathroom with electric toilet, an outdoor shower and hot water, as well as a stove, a refrigerator and a freezer. GPS, autopilot, electric windlass, USB sockets, speakers and a television are also on the equipment list. Renters rate it 5/5 across nine reviews.
Setting off from Porto Santo Stefano, you can consider cruising along the coves of the Argentario, then discussing with the skipper the options towards Giglio or Giannutri. These destinations are not guaranteed by the listing: the itinerary will depend on how the outing is organised and on the conditions of the day. Talamone and the Maremma coast also provide reference points for imagining this navigation. The boat is rented with a skipper; the listing also mentions that a licence is required. I therefore advise you to check this point when booking, rather than assuming you can sail on your own.
The rate starts at €1,300 per day. Fuel, port fees and groceries are not included and are to be settled on board: ask how these costs will be established before departure. For an outing with family or friends, choose the date and itinerary with the skipper, then book early enough if you are aiming for a summer day. It is a lovely way to head out to sea from Porto Santo Stefano, while keeping the schedule flexible.
