What are the recommended trails for visiting the Bandite di Scarlino?

For a first walk, I recommend the trail no. 1 from the Puntone di Scarlino : it crosses the scrubland along the coast and leads to Cala Martina, , then Cala Violina. Allow about 4 to 6 km and 1 hour to 1 hour 30 one way, depending on the starting point and the chosen variant. The route includes climbs and descents; wear good shoes and bring water, as there is no refreshment point along the way. For a shorter walk, start instead from the parking lot of Val Martina : there remains about 1.5 km, i.e. half an hour, to Cala Violina.

If you want a real hike, choose a loop through the heights of Poggio La Guardia, Poggio Sentinella and Poggio Carpineta, then descend back towards Torre Civette and the coastal trail. Depending on the route, plan around 14 to 15 km and about 4 hours of walking; the trails can be uneven and the elevation changes make the loop more demanding than the simple walk to the beach. In summer, also check access to Cala Violina: from the June 1st to September 30th, a reservation is required for the beach, with a contribution of 1 € per person. Cala Martina and Cala Civette remain good options if you prefer to avoid this formality.

The contrast between the heights and the coastline gives two almost opposite atmospheres: an escape into the scrubland or a walk with the sea in sight. Choose according to your mood of the day, cautious little wild boar or tireless explorer!
