Where can I stay on the island of Giglio?

For a practical stay without a car, stay in Giglio Porto : the ferry arrives here, and you'll find restaurants, shops and excursion departures nearby. It's the simplest choice with luggage or for a short stay, but the port is busy in summer. If you mainly want to enjoy a sandy beach, look at Giglio Campese, on the west coast: the atmosphere is seaside, with the large beach just steps away, but you'll be farther from the landing pier.

Giglio Castello suits you better if you prefer the old alleys and quieter evenings, away from the seaside; the village is up high, so less convenient if you plan to reach the beach on foot. A bus connects the three centers: allow about 14 minutes between Porto and Castello, and 27 minutes to Campese, with schedules that vary by season. In July and August, book early: the choice of accommodations is limited and prices can rise. To compare the atmosphere of the villages, you can also check our page on Giglio Island.
