Where to observe flamingos in the Feniglia park?

You can look for flamingos on the shore of the Levante lagoon, lagoon side of the Duna Feniglia nature reserve — not on the beach facing the sea. From the path that crosses the tombolo, look for the observation points overlooking the lagoon; one of them is located along the trail. The birds sometimes stay far away or move around: their presence at this spot is therefore not guaranteed.

To increase your chances, head instead to theWWF Oasis of the Orbetello lagoon, where trails and observatories are set up for birdwatching. Flamingos mainly frequent the lagoon from autumn to spring, with often larger numbers in winter; morning is a good time to look for them. From the Feniglia, allow about 6 km to cross the tombolo on foot or by bike, but don't plan this distance as a round trip to the oasis: these are distinct observation sites.

Keep your binoculars ready: the pink silhouettes like to play hard to get, and the waiting game is part of the pleasure.
