How to visit Massa Marittima in two days?

In two days, devote the first to the medieval center on foot, then the second to the mining museum and the museums you feel like adding: the town can be visited fairly quickly, so there's no need to fill the schedule at all costs. Start with the Piazza Garibaldi, then visit the San Cerbone Cathedral and wander through the alleys between the old town and the new town. Also stop by the Fonte dell’Abbondanza, known for its astonishing fresco. Allow about half a day for this loop, more if you stop at shops or cafés. The climb to the new town has sloped streets; wear comfortable shoes.

On the second day, reserve the morning for the Museo della Miniera – Subterraneo, about 5 minutes on foot from the center. The tour of the galleries lasts around 45 minutes, is done with a guide and the temperature is about 12 °C : bring a jacket. The adult ticket is listed at 8 €, mais les horaires varient selon la saison ; vérifie les créneaux et la réservation avant de venir. Garde l’après-midi pour le musée archéologique ou le musée de San Pietro all'Orto, depending on openings. If you prefer to take your time, two days are justified; otherwise, one day is enough to see the main sights of the center.
