The simplest way is to look for an numéro EID in the settings: if it appears, your phone is generally eSIM-ready. On iPhone, open Settings > General > About and scroll down to "EID". On Android, look in Settings > About phone or in the SIM settings; the path varies by brand. You can also check whether the "Add eSIM" option appears in the mobile network settings.
Then check the listing for your modèle exact — not just the model line: compatibility can depend on the country where the phone was sold or the carrier that supplied it. As a guideline, iPhones XS, XS Max and XR or newer support eSIM in most regions, but there are exceptions depending on the market. For Androids, don't rely solely on the release year: check the specs of the exact model. If you can't find an EID, ask the manufacturer or your carrier for confirmation.
Finally, to use a travel eSIM, check with your carrier that your phone is déverrouillé and that the eSIM plan works with this model. A compatible phone may still refuse activation if the carrier or plan doesn't support it. Before purchasing, give the provider the exact model or its IMEI number for confirmation.
