To reach the Maremma from Rome, take a direct train from Roma Termini on the coastal line towards Grosseto or Pisa, then get off depending on your destination: Orbetello-Monte Argentario, Albinia, Grosseto or Follonica. The journey takes about 1 h 30 to 2 h 30 depending on the train and the stop; some trains are slower, so check the duration before booking. There are several direct connections, but timetables vary depending on the day and the season.
Choisis Orbetello-Monte Argentario for the southern coast and the Argentario, Grosseto for the town or bus connections, and Follonica for the north of the region. Note: Orbetello station is not in the town centre, and the train will not drop you directly in inland villages like Saturnia or Manciano. You will need to continue by bus, taxi or car; bus services can be infrequent, especially in the evening and off-season. For a rural address or several stops, the train alone is therefore rarely practical. Check the route for your date on the Trenitalia website, searching for the exact name of the arrival station.
