How to access the Vie Cave of Sorano?

To get to Vie Cave of Sorano, the simplest way is to drive to the small dirt parking lot of San Rocco, on the road to Sovana, about 2 km de Sorano. From the parking area, follow the path to the small church of San Rocco: the entrance to the via cava is just behind it. You can descend through the passage carved into the tuff down to the Lente valley; allow about 40 minutes for the San Rocco route, depending on your pace and stops.

You can also start directly from the village: pass the Porta dei Merli, cross the bridge over the Lente and turn left following the trail signs. To combine the Vie Cave of Laterini and San Rocco in a loop from Sorano, allow about 4,85 km, 1 h 30 and 160 m of elevation gain. The path is uneven, with steep sections; after rain, leaves and tuff can be slippery. Wear shoes with grippy soles, and avoid strollers: this is not a suitable route.
