Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of maritime Tuscany, where the sea breeze meets the land. This Papeo 2022, a Vermentino from the Terre Del Marchesato estate, transports you directly into that unique atmosphere, revealing the freshness and liveliness of Bolgheri.
The Terre Del Marchesato estate, nestled in the prestigious Bolgheri DOC appellation, carefully cultivates this Vermentino grape variety. The vineyards benefit from a particularly favorable microclimate and soil, offering ideal conditions for this white grape to thrive. It is from this blessed land that this wine is born, an authentic reflection of its origin.
In your glass, the Papeo reveals itself with a brilliant straw-yellow color, a sign of its youth and vitality. On the nose, I perceive a complex and intriguing aromatic bouquet. Notes of white-fleshed fruits, such as peach and pear, blend with hints of citrus, grapefruit and lime. Delicate floral scents and a subtle herbaceous vein, evoking Mediterranean herbs, complete this olfactory picture with remarkable finesse. On the palate, this Vermentino stands out for its balanced structure and pleasant freshness. The acidity, characteristic of the grape variety, is perfectly counterbalanced by an enveloping roundness and a slight sapidity, which gives the wine a pleasant persistence. The vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by six months of aging in the same tanks, preserves all the purity and fruity expression of the Vermentino.
This Papeo is an invitation to conviviality. I highly recommend it as an aperitif, where its freshness will awaken your taste buds. It pairs wonderfully well with fish dishes, seafood and shellfish, delicately highlighting their flavors. You can also pair it with light summer salads or vegetable-based dishes. This wine is an excellent way to discover the quality and finesse of Bolgheri whites, a gem of Tuscany that I can't wait for you to explore.
