The Soprintendenza is the authority that oversees cultural and landscape heritage in Italy. Concretely, in Maremma, it gives the green light for any modification of a historic building, an archaeological site or even a protected landscape. If you visit a medieval village, an Etruscan site or a nature reserve, know that the Soprintendenza had a say in what you see. It guarantees that these places retain their authenticity. It is thanks to it that you can still admire Maremma as it is, without distortions. It is the guarantor of the preservation of what makes the region's charm.
