Comment on noteOur opinion
Departing from Follonica, this 16-metre motorboat opens up a lovely day of sailing along the Maremma coast, with room for eight passengers. I would recommend it to those who want to alternate swimming, time at anchor and meals on board, rather than to those looking for a simple light outing. The rental is advertised from €1,000 per day.
The Fairline Fly 50 dates from 1989 and develops 730 horsepower. It offers three cabins and six berths: the capacity underway is therefore greater than the number of people who can sleep on board. The listing notably mentions air conditioning, heating, hot water, an electric toilet and a watermaker. Outside, you will find a sun awning, a table, speakers, a sunbathing area at the bow and a swimming platform with a ladder.
The flybridge and aft cockpit offer several spaces to settle into, while the interior includes a lounge and a kitchen according to the description. To reach the shore or a cove from the anchorage, a tender with an outboard is available; the description specifies a power of 20 HP. Paddleboard, masks and snorkels complete the leisure equipment. Autopilot, bow thruster and Wi-Fi are also listed on the listing. The boat has been recently maintained, according to its description, which also indicates a cruising speed of about 13 knots and a stated consumption of around 100 litres per hour, varying with conditions.
From Follonica, you can consider sailing along the coast, with swimming breaks in the Cala Violina area, or head south to explore the surroundings of Talamone and the Argentario. The island of Giglio, and further south Giannutri, can also inspire a more ambitious outing. These places are not guaranteed in the itinerary: distances, weather and available time will determine what is reasonable. The listing requires a boating license and does not specify whether a skipper can be provided; it is best to check this point before booking.
With its six berths, this Fairline is particularly suitable for a small group that wants to enjoy the sea without giving up comfort on board. In high season, I advise you to book early and to confirm the itinerary, sailing conditions and piloting arrangements before departure.
