Where exactly is the Sassotondo estate in Tuscany?

The wine estate Sassotondo is located at Pian di Conati 52, near Sovana, in the municipality of Sorano, province of Grosseto, in southern Tuscany, in Maremma. It is located in the countryside between Pitigliano, Sovana and Sorano, in an area of tuff hills — not in a town centre nor near Florence.

To get there, take the SP46 and look for the Sassondo sign at the kilometer 2 ; there remain about 2.2 km to the estate, part of it on an unpaved road. Better to plan for a car: the neighbouring villages are close by regional standards, but the final access is rural. The estate states it is about 50 km from Orvieto and from the Tyrrhenian coast.

A small note if you are looking for accommodation: Sassotondo is above all a wine estate, with cellar tours and tastings by reservation; do not assume you can sleep there. Contact them before going, especially to confirm opening hours and availability.
