What view does the Torre di Capo d'Uomo offer?

Since the Torre di Capo d'Uomo, perched on the west coast of the Monte Argentario, you have an unobstructed view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the promontory and above all the channel between the Argentario and the island of Giglio. On a clear day, you can also make out Giannutri and other islands of the Tuscan archipelago.

The tower is in ruins: the main interest is the view from this rocky promontory, at about 350 meters above sea level, rather than visiting a developed monument. The viewpoint is exposed and some sections of the trail run along the cliff without protection; be careful if you suffer from vertigo or if you are hiking with young children.

To get there, you must walk from the panoramic road; the last stretch climbs up a rocky path. Bring shoes with good grip and water, especially in summer, and if possible choose a clear day: mist can reduce visibility of the islands.

This view has a little postcard-like quality that refuses to stay within the frame: you start by looking out to sea, then you catch yourself following the ridgelines with your eyes. Save a moment for that, without rushing to the next viewpoint.
