Today, Wednesday 7 October, start with a stroll along the seafront of Follonica, then go and see the church San Leopoldo and its cast-iron elements, in the town centre. In October, the beach of Pratoranieri, less than 5 km from the centre, is better suited to a walk than a day of swimming: the sea can be cool and beach services are often reduced in the off-season.
For a visit under cover, the MAGMA, dedicated to the history of iron and cast iron in Follonica, is open today from 3:30 pm to 7 pm ; admission costs 5 € and the last entry is 45 minutes before closing. Still check the opening times before you go, as they may change. If you have a car, extend the day to Massa Marittima, about 25 km : allow around 30 minutes of driving to reach the medieval old town and its cathedral square. Without a car, stay in Follonica: the simplest ideas are the seafront, the town centre and the museum.
