The reviews of the Cascate del Mulino are mostly positive for the scenery and the hot water pools, but many visitors also warn that the site can be crowded. The water stays around 37.5 °C which is pleasant when it's cool, less so when you arrive in the middle of summer looking for some freshness. The sulfur smell is definitely present, and the travertine rocks are slippery. Bring water shoes, a swimsuit already on, and a towel; on site, the facilities are fairly basic and there is little shade.
Access to the waterfalls is freebut the nearby parking may be paid; check the posted rate on site, as it can vary. From the parking lot, generally allow 5 to 10 minutes on foot. To avoid the crowds, aim for a weekday morning or the low season; in summer and on weekends, don't expect to enjoy the pools peacefully. My opinion: it's worth the trip if you accept these constraints and want to swim in a natural setting, not if you're looking for the calm or comfort of a spa. To combine the hot springs with a trip to the coast, you can also check out my itinerary around Lake Burano and Capalbio.
