For nature and swimming, I would choose the area of Caldane, on the east coast: the small beach is more secluded than the large coves, and the coastal trail from Cannelle adds lovely viewpoints. You can also get there by water taxi from Giglio Porto. It is not a totally isolated cove: in season, it can get busy, and access on foot requires good shoes.
If you prefer a more open landscape, head to Giglio Campese, in the northwest. Its large red sand beach, the tower and the Faraglione make up a different setting, with room to swim and services nearby; in return, it is less wild. For a first visit, you can compare the two areas rather than look for a single "best" part: the island's coastline is about 28 km and alternates between beaches and rocky shores. You will find other landmarks in our guide to the Isola del Giglio.
