What can you visit in Vulci during a stay in Maremma?

À Vulci, you can walk through the remains of the ancient Etruscan and Roman city, see the Ponte della Badia above the Fiora, then head to the laghetto del Pellicone. The site is located near Canino and Montalto di Castro, in the Lazio part of Maremma: plan a car trip, as it is not easily served by public transport.

In the park, the path crosses the remains of ancient streets and buildings; the loops vary depending on what you want to see, and the one leading to the lake requires more walking. Take good shoes and water: the route is outdoors, with little shade in places. Allow at least a few hours to visit without rushing. The park ticket is listed at 8 € full price ; opening hours change with the season, so check them before leaving. The François tomb cannot be visited freely: look into reservations.

The Archaeological museum, housed in the Badia castle, displays objects from the excavations. Be careful if you are traveling now: an exceptional closure is announced until 15 October 2026 ; check its reopening before including it in your itinerary. The most fun part of Vulci is letting your imagination fill in the missing pieces: the visit has a little taste of archaeological investigation, rather than a classic museum.
