If I had to choose the most beautiful place in the Maremma, I would say the Maremma regional park, around Alberese and the Uccellina mountains. That's where you find the landscapes that define the region's character best brought together: pine groves, maquis, hills, horses and cows roaming free, then long beaches like Marina di Alberese and Collelungo. It's not the best choice if you're looking for beaches equipped with restaurants and sun loungers: here, nature is protected and services are limited.
The visitor center is located in Alberese, about 7 km south of Grosseto. You can reach the seaside by bike via a trail crossing the plain, or choose a hiking path; some routes require a fee, generally within a range of 5 to 10 €. In summer, access to certain trails may be regulated or require a guide, so check the conditions before setting off. To avoid the heat and enjoy the trails more peacefully, aim rather for the spring or early autumn. If you prefer cliffs and coves, the peninsula of theArgentario is another option, but the landscape there is rockier and access to some beaches less easy.
