What is the most beautiful spot in the Maremma?

If I had to choose, I would say the Maremma Natural Park, especially the landscape between Alberese and Cala di Forno : pine forest, Mediterranean scrubland, the Uccellina hills and a still fairly wild coastline. It's not a single viewpoint to photograph, but a whole set of landscapes that changes along the way.

There is, however, one important drawback: Cala di Forno is not a beach you can easily reach for a spontaneous swim. The walking route is about 16 km round trip and can take 8 to 9 hours with a break; check access conditions with the park before setting off. If you mainly want a beach without a long hike, look instead towards Marina di Alberese or Collelungo. For villages and coastal views, Talamone is another good option, but its charm is different. In spring or September, the walk is generally more pleasant than in the height of summer; in July and August, expect heat, plenty of water and bigger crowds.

My take: the Maremma wins when you treat it as a landscape to travel through, not as a postcard to tick off. For that little "what's around the next bend?", it has a charm that Talamone, more immediate, doesn't even try to copy.
