À Alberese, the main interest is the Maremma Natural Park : the village itself is small and can be visited fairly quickly. From the visitor center, you can set off on foot toward the ruins of theSan Rabano abbey and the Uccellina tower; plan for a real hike, not a short stroll. The trails cross woods and scrubland, with views of the coast. For an easier outing, ask at the center about the open trails and their duration, which varies depending on the route.
You can also reach Marina di Alberese, the beach lined with pine groves, on foot or by bike via the cycle path from the village. The bike ride to the beach takes about 8 km ; the path continues toward the mouth of the Ombrone. Don't expect a developed beach like in a seaside resort: the place is more natural, and services are limited. For a walk with a bit of history, the abbey is a better choice; for a relaxed outing, take your bike to the sea.
The park trails require a fee: depending on the route, expect about 5 to 10 € per adult. Opening hours and access to certain trails may vary depending on the season; check them at the visitor center before setting off, especially in summer.
