Where is the Biancane park located?

The Biancane park is located at Monterotondo Marittimo, in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Colline Metallifere, in the Maremma hinterland. So it is not a coastal park: it is known for its whitened soils and its geothermal phenomena, with vapors and natural emissions.

From the village square, take the road signposted toward Lagoni and Suvereto: the crossroads is about 150 meters from the square, then signs point to the Parco delle Biancane and the MUBIA, the geological museum which also serves as a reception point. You can reach the trails from this area. Be sure to follow the marked paths and do not approach the vents: some give off significant heat. If you look for the park on a map, make sure it is the one at Monterotondo Marittimo, and not the Biancane of Leonina, which are located in the Crete Senesi.
