Where to see the best panorama of Pitigliano?

For the most famous panorama of Pitigliano, stop at the viewpoint near the sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, on the SR74, about 1 km from the centre. It's from there that you see the whole village perched on its tufa ridge, with the aqueduct arches in the landscape. There is a small parking area near the sanctuary, but it can be limited: slow down and park only where it's safe, without stopping in a bend. The late-afternoon light often brings out the rock and the houses nicely; under overcast skies, the panorama loses much of its contrast.

If you prefer to stay on foot, go to the Terrazza di San Michele, accessible from the historic centre in a few minutes. The view is less the postcard one taken from a distance, but you can settle in the garden there and look at the village from the inside. You can also reach the viewpoints of piazza della Repubblica during your visit; they open mainly onto the valleys around the village. For a first discovery, I would choose the Madonna delle Grazie, then the terrace if you have time: the two angles complement each other.

In Pitigliano, the nice trap is believing that a single viewpoint tells the whole story: keep a little curiosity for the second one, even if the first one already made you pull out your camera!
