Is Lake Accesa suitable for swimming?

Yes, you can swim in Lake Accesa : swimming is allowed there and the monitored area for water quality is rated excellent in the available data. It remains a natural lake, not a developed beach with a large stretch of sand: the banks are mostly grassy or rocky in places, and the water gets deep quickly — up to about 38 mètres.

The lake is located about 10 km from Massa Marittima. You can leave your car on the side of La Pesta, then reach the shores on foot; facilities and access to the banks have been provided, but the place remains fairly simple. In summer, it can get crowded, especially near the easiest access points. Check the signs on site before getting into the water: a temporary ban may be decided depending on conditions. And if you come with your dog, be careful: it cannot enter the water.
