Is it possible to swim at Bagni San Filippo?

Yes, you can swim in the natural pools of the White Creek (Fosso Bianco), at Bagni San Filippo : access to this area is generally free. These are thermal baths in the middle of nature, not a developed beach. From the village, allow about 5 minutes on foot to reach the first pools; the path can be slippery, so wear shoes that hold well on your feet.

The Balena Bianca, the large white limestone formation, is for looking at but not for climbing: also avoid bathing right next to it, where the spring water can be very hot. It gushes out at about 48 °C, but the temperature of the pools varies according to their location and the flow. Enter the water cautiously and get out if it seems too hot. Bring a swimsuit, a towel and something to change into; on site, facilities are limited. Respect the signs and any temporary restrictions, which may change the access conditions.

Small tip: come with a wandering mindset rather than that of a spa day, the wild setting is part of the pleasure.
