Yes, the Maremma hot springs can be suitable for children, but the choice of location matters a lot. At the Saturnia Thermal Park, children are admitted and two pools are reserved for them, with a depth of about 70 cm. The other pools are generally reserved for children measuring more than 1.50 m, and the pool of 2 m is intended for experienced swimmers. The site is supervised, which is more reassuring for a family outing, without replacing the constant supervision of an adult.
The Cascate del Mulino, on the other hand, are free and natural, but less suitable for little ones: there are no lifeguards, the rocks can be slippery and the bottom is uneven. Bring water shoes and keep your child within arm's reach. The water there is about 35 to 37 °C ; at the Saturnia hot springs, it reaches 37.5 °C. For a toddler, avoid prolonged baths, take regular breaks and ask your pediatrician for advice in case of health problems. In short: with young children, the developed park is the safest choice; the waterfalls require more vigilance.
