Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine a sea breeze caressing the vines, a generous but never scorching sun. It is in this setting that the Bolgheri Rosato 'Scalabrone' 2024 is born, a wine that captures the very essence of the Tuscan Maremma. It is not just a simple rosé, it is an invitation to the Italian sweet life, a promise of freshness and elegance.
I'll take you to the heart of the Alta Maremma, in Bolgheri, where the Marchesi Antinori estate, with its Tenuta Guado al Tasso, cultivates vines cradled by the proximity of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This maritime influence gives the soils a particular salinity, a unique character that can be found in this wine. The 'Scalabrone' is the result of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a portion of Syrah, grape varieties that flourish wonderfully on these lands.
As soon as you pour it, its clear and luminous color enchants you. On the nose, I perceive delicate aromas of red fruits, such as cherry and pomegranate, interwoven with floral notes of rose petals and hawthorn, with light herbaceous accents. On the palate, it reveals remarkable freshness and sapidity, a perfect balance between a slight sweetness and a liveliness that awakens the taste buds. The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then macerate briefly (2 to 4 hours) before fermentation at 16°C in steel tanks. Its aging also takes place in steel, and it is bottled in January, thus preserving all its youth and brilliance.
This Bolgheri Rosato 'Scalabrone' is the perfect companion for your moments of sharing. I recommend serving it well chilled, between 8 and 10°C, in large glasses to appreciate all its aromatic complexity. Think of it to accompany seafood antipasti, a seafood platter, crunchy summer salads or even grilled white meats. Its balanced structure makes it accessible and pleasant to drink young, although it can be kept a little in the cellar. It is a wine that celebrates lightness and conviviality, a true gem to brighten up your meals.
