Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine for a moment the gentleness of the Tuscan hills under a generous sun. This is precisely the image that this wine, the Fattoria Le Maestrelle from Santa Cristina, evokes from the very first sip. It is the very expression of an authentic Tuscany, without artifice, but full of character.
Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, near Cortona, the Santa Cristina estate perpetuates a winemaking tradition rooted in the history of this blessed land. This wine, classified Toscana IGT, draws its richness from a harmonious blend of grape varieties emblematic of the region: the Sangiovese, pillar of the Tuscan identity, is complemented by the Merlot and the Syrah, which bring roundness and complexity. Each variety is harvested and vinified separately, with fermentation controlled at less than 25°C, thus guaranteeing respect for the primary aromas and the finesse of the tannins. The aging continues until the spring following malolactic fermentation, allowing the wine to fully flourish.
When you pour this Fattoria Le Maestrelle, you discover an intense and compact ruby color, a promise of beautiful concentration. On the nose, an explosion of ripe red fruits offers itself to you, mingled with delicate notes of small berries and floral accents, notably violet. Subtle spicy touches are revealed, with nuances of vanilla, chocolate, mint, coffee and even juniper, bringing a fascinating aromatic complexity. On the palate, the wine is balanced, medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a vivifying freshness that supports the whole without ever being overwhelming. The finish is harmonious and persistent, a gentle invitation to prolong the pleasure.
This wine is an ideal companion for moments of conviviality, whether informal or more elaborate. It pairs wonderfully well with dishes from the local tradition. I particularly recommend it with grilled or roasted red meats, where its structure and fruity aromas will work wonders. Also think of rich and flavorful sauces, or even charcuterie and medium-aged cheeses, which will find in it a perfect echo. Serve it slightly chilled, at cellar temperature, in a large glass so that it can fully express all its perfumes. It is a daily Tuscan red, pleasant and versatile, which will tell you with simplicity the identity of the Santa Cristina estate, without pretension, but with remarkable drinkability. Let yourself be charmed by this gem of hidden Tuscany.
