Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine a wine that dared to break the rules, a pioneer that redefined Tuscan excellence. Tignanello is that story in a bottle, an audacity to be savored. When I taste it, I feel the spirit of innovation of a millennia-old land.
Nestled in the heart of Chianti Classico, the Antinori estate is an institution whose history is intertwined with that of Tuscan wine. Tignanello was born from the desire to explore new paths, to blend Sangiovese with non-traditional grape varieties. It is the first Sangiovese to have been aged in barriques, and one of the first red wines of Chianti Classico to do without blending with white grape varieties, marking a true revolution.
The 2019 vintage of Tignanello reveals itself in an intense, deep ruby red robe. On the nose, I am captivated by an intense and seductive bouquet, where aromas of spices, wildflowers, leather, white chocolate, tobacco and blackberries mingle. On the palate, it reveals a full and harmonious body. The softness of its tannins carries the tasting toward a long, enveloping and truly delightful finish. This wine is the result of fermentation in steel tanks, followed by a long maceration, then 12 to 14 months of aging in barriques, refining its complexity and structure.
To fully appreciate the richness of this refined wine, I advise you to let it breathe for at least one to two hours before serving. Tignanello 2019 is a perfect match with flavorful red meats, game or aged cheeses. It will not disappoint your expectations and will provide you with a tasting experience of rare quality and excellence, turning every meal into a celebration.
