Comment on noteOur opinion
If you're looking for a table that doesn't cheat with Maremma, La Terra di Nello is the place. Forget the tourist clichés; here, you're served a Tuscan terroir cuisine, faithful to the local flavors, under the direction of chef Alessio Biagi.
The house is a rural osteria, not a fancy gourmet restaurant. Their thing is product quality and authenticity of taste. You can expect dishes that speak of the Maremma territory, without unnecessary frills.
Customers often mention the "Percorso di carne cruda", a selection of raw meats, or the "Paté di fegatini", the poultry liver pâté, a Tuscan classic. And for the more daring, the "Animelle di vitello", veal sweetbreads, are also on the menu. It's a simple yet careful cuisine that showcases the best the land has to offer. If you have restrictions, they also offer vegetarian and gluten-free options.
As for the setting, it's an osteria "immersa nel verde", immersed in greenery. Expect a rustic countryside atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle. There are outdoor tables, perfect for enjoying mild evenings, and parking is available, which is handy for a somewhat remote location.
If you want to taste the real Maremma, the one that doesn't dress itself up, this osteria is a safe bet. It's not a table seeking to impress with complicated techniques, but a house that feeds you with honest flavors and quality products. At around €40 per person, you get a sincere experience rooted in the terroir, far from tourist traps.
