Comment on noteOur opinion
Here, you are at Marina di Grosseto, with your feet almost in the sand. This is not a village trattoria, but a historic beach establishment, one of those places that have been part of the Maremma coastline for years. The house offers simple Italian cuisine, with that breathtaking sea view that makes all the difference.
The cuisine is Italian, as you might expect, and it focuses on the classics with a few marine touches. Guests often talk about the pici with bottarga, a dish that, when done well, reminds you that the sea is never far away in Tuscany. The house also serves pizza, and feedback is rather good, which is already a sign of consistency. You will also find starters such as Tartare di tonno pinna gialla con chips di riso e riduzione agli agrumi, or Crostini di fegatini toscani e cipolle caramellate, a classic that leaves no doubt about the origins. The Baccalà mantecato con pane carasau e salsa verde is also mentioned, showing a certain diversity in the offerings.
The atmosphere is that of a relaxed seaside setting. The panoramic sea-view terrace is an undeniable asset, especially at sunset. It is the kind of place you come to for the view as much as for the plate, with no fuss. Reviews mention a feeling of a pleasant, uncrowded place, which is welcome in high season. On the other hand, expect music that is sometimes a bit loud and service times that can be slow, especially when the restaurant is full. And be careful, some portions may be considered a bit modest, it is not the usual generosity of a countryside trattoria.
If you are looking for an unpretentious meal with a breathtaking view of the sea, Bagno La Rotonda is an option. It is a place that lives to the rhythm of the beach, offering an experience more focused on the setting and atmosphere than on exceptional gastronomy. For a budget of around €21 per person, you will find honest Italian cuisine and the pleasure of dinner facing the horizon, a classic of summer Maremma.
