What to wear to visit the Cascades del Mulino?

For the Mill Waterfalls, pack a swimsuit, water shoes with non-slip soles and a large towel: the travertine is uneven and can be slippery, so avoid going barefoot or in flip-flops. Sandals that stay securely on your feet can work, but closed water shoes are more practical for getting in and out of the pools.

Add clothes that are easy to take off and put back on, as well as a dry outfit to keep in the car. The water stays around 35 to 37 °C, but when you get out, the wind or cool air can quickly chill you, especially in autumn and winter. Even in summer, plan to have something to cover up with if you stay after your swim. The site is accessible all year round; so adapt your outer layer to the day's weather rather than relying on the warmth of the water. Also bring a bag to keep your wet swimsuit and towel separate from your dry things: the water is sulphurous and its smell can linger on swimwear.

At the Cascades del Mulino, the 'ready to dive back in' look has far more flair than an exit outfit — especially when the bath drags on!
