What is glamping in Tuscany?

Glamping in Tuscany is camping with accommodation that is already set up and equipped: most often a safari or lodge tent with real beds, sometimes a bathroom and a small kitchen. You sleep outdoors, but you bring neither tent nor mattress. The level of comfort varies a lot: some places have a private bathroom, others shared facilities, and air conditioning is not always available.

You'll find them notably in the Maremma, near the coast and pine groves, but also in the hills of the Chianti and around other rural areas. Most seasonal campsites open from spring to early autumn; check the exact dates if you're traveling off-season. For an equipped lodge tent, expect roughly 120 to 250 € per night in Maremma, with rates often higher in July and August. The price depends on capacity, amenities, and minimum stay.

Before booking, check whether sheets, cleaning, and a private bathroom are included. Glamping remains an outdoor experience: you may hear the neighbors, get hot under the canvas in summer, and depend on your car to visit villages or reach a beach. It's a good compromise if you want to sleep camping without pitching your tent, not necessarily an economical alternative to a hotel.

Glamping is camping with a clever little shortcut: you keep the spirit of adventure, but you leave the tent setup to the local wild boars. For a first night under canvas, it's a gentler gateway than traditional camping.
