What are the zoning rules for diving at Giannutri?

À Giannutriyou can currently scuba dive in the classified sectors Zone 2 ; la Zone 1 remains off-limits to diving. Since February 25, 2026the Park has temporarily authorized free diving only in Zone 2, pending a new decision. This is a provisional measure: check that it is still in force before you go.

Note that "free" does not mean the whole coastline is accessible: you must respect the zoning limits shown on the Park's map, as well as the safety and environmental protection rules. The buoy field is currently not operational. An old Park page still states that dives require an accredited center and a guide, but this rule should be read in light of the more recent decision of February 2026. To avoid an unpleasant surprise, ask the Park or your diving center for confirmation just before the trip, especially about the chosen sector and access arrangements.

In Giannutri, the Park's map is worth more than a wild boar's instinct: a little detour prepared in advance avoids turning the exploration into an unpleasant surprise.
